Reporting Verbs

These are verbs to report past actions or activities, it report something that a person mentioned previously.

Think - Agree - Remind - Discover - Suggest - Decide - Explain - Tell - Consider - Say

• Subject + verb + (that) + clause
• Subject + verb + object + (that) + clause

In the second case, we say that is necessary to mention the object, who is affected by the subject. Otherwise, in the first case is doesn’t necessary to mention it.

Expressing wishes

Mention wishes or circumstances that are imposible right now. (Imposible desires in the present).

I wish / If only

• I wish I have a fluent English to express myself in any sense.
• I wish/If only + past perfect
• I wish/If only + would / could

Even if

Imaging & hypothetical situations

Even if / … emphasize that something will still be true if another thing happens

Even if I had time, I wouldn’t watch that movie again, it’s awful.

…describe future outcomes of a hypothetical situation.

Intentions, plans and preferences for the future.

• verb to be + thinking + of/about + gerund

  • I’m thinking of adding more discipline to my routine
  • She’s thinking about getting a new promotion in her job.

• would (you) + prefer to + infinitive

  I’d prefer to keep my jogging routine at first time in the morning.
